Expect that phrase to be everywhere Saturday, June 1, at the Aubie 5K and 1-mile Fun Run.

The races, held at Heardmont Park, are hosted by the Greater Birmingham Auburn Club.

“It’s just a group of people that love Auburn, and it gives us a chance to connect with the community,” said race chairperson Andrea Boozer, a 1992 AU graduate.

The Aubie 5K serves as one of the GBAC’s annual fundraisers.

All proceeds from the event will go toward funding the Phil Neel Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Auburn-bound high school seniors from Jefferson and Shelby counties. Neel, an artist, created the originalAuburn mascot.

Aubie will be on hand for the races, which wind through Heardmont Park’s trails. Past editions of the event have been held at Veterans Park.

The 5K will begin at 8 a.m., while the 1-mile will begin at 9:15 a.m. The races will be followed by an awards presentation.

Participants also will be able to partake in Aubie’s 40th Birthday Bash at 8:45 a.m.

Registration for the 5K costs $35, while registration for the 1-mile costs $20. There also is a sleep-in option available for $25.

The 5K fee will increase by $5 after May 17, which is the last day to guarantee a commemorative race T-shirt. Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m.
