Since Sept. 8, a bus has been parked on the strip of property between U.S. 280 and the Target shopping center on the corridor. And since Sept. 8, that bus has slowly started to fill with diapers.

The bus is there as part of the Bundles of Hope Stuff the Bus diaper drive, which aims to collect diapers and monetary donations to purchase diapers. Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank is a Birmingham-based nonprofit that aims to provide an adequate and reliable supply of diapers to families in need.

The Stuff the Bus drive started two years ago and has since collected more than 250,000 diapers for Bundles of Hope. This year, the goal was to collect more than 150,000 diapers.

Even though tropical storm Irma affected the drive, leading it to close early some days, Bundles of Hope had collected nearly half of its 150,000 goal after its first week. Counting physical diapers and donations, they had collected 70,000 diapers as of lunchtime on Sept. 14.

The drive will continue through Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. Donations of diapers and money will be accepted.
