Holiday closings can change year to year, as holidays shift between falling on weekends and falling mid week.

To make it a little easier to keep up, 280 Living has compiled a list of how the Christmas and New Year holidays will affect municipal buildings and services in North Shelby County.

Chelsea City Hall: Closed Dec. 22 and Dec. 25 for Christmas, as well as Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

North Shelby and Mt Laurel public libraries: Closed Dec. 24-25 for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Eve and Day. Both locations will reopen Jan. 2 at 10 a.m.

Chelsea Public Library: Closed Dec. 23-Dec. 25 for Christmas, and closed Jan. 1. The library will re-open Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. While the library was initially set to be closed until mid-January due to a move to the new library location, that move has been delayed.

Shelby County Schools: The first semester will end Dec. 15, and students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. that day. Faculty will be dismissed at 3 p.m. Schools and offices will be closed Dec. 18 through Jan. 1, and Jan. 2 will be a teacher workday.

► Both Christmas and New Year’s Day will affect trash pickup for Waste Pro customers in Shelby County. If a service day falls on the same day as a holiday, trash pickup will take place the following regularly scheduled day. Because Christmas and New Year’s Day both fall on a Monday, trash pickup that normally takes place on Monday will be moved to Tuesday.
