Chelsea Cruise-In celebrates vintage cars

Lovers of old and new cars come together once a month from spring to fall for the Chelsea Cruise-In.

Organizer Bruce Burdette said the Cruise-In typically draws 30 to 35 cars each month, from vintage cars to hot rods and muscle cars. They meet in the parking lot of the Publix at 501 Chelsea Crossroads, and Burdette said spectators also show up to look at and talk about cars, even if they don’t have vintage cars of their own.

“It’s a mix of a little bit of everything,” Burdette said.

The Chelsea Cruise-In happens on the second Saturday of each month from April to October. The cars arrive around 4:30 p.m., Burdette said, and participants stay as long as they want, typically leaving at 7 or 8 p.m.
