Clipped Wings celebrated their Golden Anniversary with a festive party at Greystone Founders Club on Dec. 9.

This local organization was formed in 1968 by former flight attendants. Joined by spouses and guests and wearing their wings, the group enjoyed champagne and cocktails while exploring an exhibit of memorabilia covering more than 50 years of flight attendant history.

The banner event was hosted by Karen Lloyd, Doris Davis, Barbara Huffman, Marna McGahan, Diane Stover and Carol Godsey. They chose a sparkling gold and black theme to pay tribute to the anniversary. Place cards featured commemorative flight wings and guests each received a framed original poem by member and author Barbara Huffman.

As a dinner of beef filet or salmon was served, members regaled the group with stories of their air adventures and misadventures. A toast was offered to members, “those present, those absent and those now flying the friendliest of skies!

There was lots of laughter, remembrances of dear friends and door prizes for the lucky guests.

Current Clipped Wings membership includes eight charter members and represents seven commercial airlines and service of more than 65 years. If you are a former flight attendant and would like to join, please contact Carol Godsey at 223-1448
