Farmers market to open this week

Valleydale Farmers Market will open Saturday, May 23, for its first market of the season.

The market expects to have spring vegetables including collards, turnip greens, squash, zucchini, onions, sweet potatoes, radishes, red potatoes, cucumbers and more. 

Handmade and vendor items such as honey, pecans, gluten-free baking goods, soaps, children's accessories, jewelry and more will also be available. 

The market will run 8 a.m.-noon at Faith Presbyterian Church.
