The Chelsea Kiwanis Club and city officials couldn't have planned better weather for the 2018 Fire in the Foothills BBQ and Chili Cook-Off.

Chelsea community members gathered on Saturday to sample a variety of smoked meats and chili, enjoy live music and mingle with those running for local elected office.

The event is co-hosted and co-benefiting the Chelsea Kiwanis Club and Chelsea Fire and Rescue, and the barbecue portion is a Kansas City Barbeque Society recognized event.

Each competition saw more than a dozen entries, and awards were given in each category.

2nd place: Jane Weygand

3rd place: Justin Fogo
