FlipSide Watersports to host Southern Wake Series event

A new watersports tournament is coming to Oak Mountain State Park this month.

The first tournament in the newly-established Southern Wake Series will take place at OMSP on May 19 and 20.

The Southern Wake Series is a team effort between Flip Side Watersports, Wakefactory in Guntersville and WakeUp Stream. Russell Marine and Mitchell Militia are also part of the team behind the Southern Wake Series. 

The two-day event will be held at Flip Side Watersports, which is located near the Highway 119 entrance to the park. The cable contest will be held May 19, where participants are pulled along on a cable rig through obstacles and ramps, and the boat contest will on Sunday, May 20. 

The Southern Wake Series will include four other events, for which details had not been released as of press time.

Sign-up and registration will be available in person on the day of the event. Organizers said the opportunity to ride the same body of water with two disciplines — cable and boat — was new to the state and an opportunity they were excited to provide.
