On Feb. 8-9, thousands of people in the Birmingham area will flock to Asbury United Methodist Church for the biannual Giggles and Grace consignment sale.

From quality clothing for babies through teenagers to toys, shoes and everything in between, shoppers will be able to find just about anything, said Jennifer McInnish, publicity co-chair for Giggles and Grace.

The sale, which is put on by volunteers, benefits the children and youth programs at the church, as well as various local mission groups, McInnish said.

According to McInnish, there are about 425 sellers for this year’s event, and the co-chair committee has already been putting in countless hours of prep work to make this one the best yet.

The sale is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 8, and 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 9. All volunteers get a chance to shop the presale on Thursday night.

Asbury will offer vouchers for individuals and families that may need financial assistance, as well. Those who might benefit from a voucher for clothing, furniture, toys or books can fill out a form on the website.

“During our last sale alone, over 60 families received vouchers for shopping,” McInnish said. “And we had four organizations receive truckloads of donations from the sale.”

They also accept volunteers up until the week of the sale.

“Our sale has only been a success for the past 11 years because of the amount of hours of hard work put in by our volunteers,” McInnish said.
