The annual Golf “FORE!” Education tournament will be swinging into Birmingham this fall for its 29th year.

The Greater Shelby and South Shelby Chambers joint golf tournament is set for Oct. 15 at Inverness Golf Club and will help raise money for the chamber’s various career readiness and education development programs.

“This is the second year for a collaborative tournament with the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce, but it is the 29th annual tournament for the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce,” said Payton Thomas, director of operations at the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

The combined tournament will replace the independent tournaments each chamber has held in the past, according to the Greater Shelby County Chamber website.

Proceeds from the tournament will go toward funding for the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship fund and the Greater Shelby County Chamber’s Career Readiness Programs, which include the Keeping It Real program, the Communication Matters program and the Student Career Readiness Fair.

Fees to participate in the tournament start at $600 for a four-person team or $150 for individuals. There are also multiple sponsorship levels that include advertising and hospitality tent/table opportunities.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
