King’s Home has launched a new donation initiative for the Birmingham area.

Unveiled on Jan. 17, “The Better Bin” initiative aims to educate community members about King’s Home and its mission, while encouraging donations.

In January, King’s Home put out new, coral-colored bins, launched a website and started work to spread the word. The bins will accept gently used shoes, pants, shirts, jackets and other items for individual at King’s Home, a faith-based organization that provides homes and services to at risk or abused women, children and families.

“With the launch of The Better Bin initiative, we are asking that people not only think about King’s Home when they clean out their used items at home, but we are asking them to think about their donations in terms of what they actually are — one person donating hope to one another,” King’s Home president Lew Burdette said in a press release. “The color beckons individuals to give with intent and to purposefully select The Better Bin for their all-important donations.”

In addition to the bins, King’s Home trucks have received the samebranding treatment.

Donation bins are located throughout the Birmingham metro area, including Greystone Self Storage, Mountain Brook Community Church and Whole Foods on U.S. 280.
