The third annual Mayhem on the Mountain, which took place at Oak Mountain State Park on Aug. 18-19, pushed even the fittest participants to their limits.

The popular Functional Fitness competition brought out hundreds of individual and team competitors to test their fitness ability through various exercises that included Olympic lifting, gymnastics, combinations of running, swimming and racing, as well as squat cleans, deadlifts and dumbbell snatches.

The event also attracted hundreds of spectators and supporters over the course of the weekend, who set up hammocks and blankets to relax and watch in the shade. Booths sold athletic gear and food trucks were available on site.
