Saturday, Dec. 15 might have been cold and rainy, but that didn't stop a group of local runners and residents from showing up to Meadow Brook Corporate Park to participate in the 280-area tradition known as Meadow Brook Runs.

Before the race, runners were greeted with fresh donuts and coffee. The race was delayed a few minutes because of the combination of the long line for packet pick-up and the weather.

Before the race began, Bob Cosby led the group in prayer. At the start of the race, a light rain began to fall, and continued on and off throughout the next hour. The 1-mile fun run for kids began shortly after the 5k wrapped up.

Winners were announced at 10:30 a.m., and a drawing for door prizes followed. The race might have been lacking sun, but it wasn't lacking food. Lunch and snacks were provided by Jimmy Johns, Chick-fil-A, Papa Johns, Smoothie King and other sponsors.
