Birmingham's first Southern Living Inspired Home is set to open this October.

The house, located off of Elyton Drive in the Town of Mt Laurel, was designed in partnership with Southern Living after Mt Laurel was selected to become one of 14 Southern Living Inspiried Communities nationwide.

"Mt Laurel is known for its community lifestyle, embrace of the natural landscape, and beautiful southern architecture," said Time Inc. Assistant Marketing Manager Kathryn Lott in a press release. "Southern Living is proud to partner with Mt Laurel on Birmingham's first Southern Living Inspired Home opening in the neighborhood this fall."

The home includes current interior design trends and contemporary craftsman architecture, according to the release. Its location on Elyton Drive overlooks Double Oak Mountain and Turtleback Park. Its interiors were designed by Kay Green Design, who also worked on the Designer Showcase Model Home on Burnham Street. The home was constructed by Town Builders Inc.

"We are very excited to build another special home with ties to Southern Living in the community," said Bryan Phillips, vice president of Town Builders Inc. "This home offers an array of special features that should interest just about anyone touring the project. The detail in trim carpentry, cabinetry and tile work makes this home stand out, while the front porch charm makes it a perfect fit for Mt Laurel."

Tours of the home will start on Oct. 14, the same day as the Mt Laurel Fall Festival, and will be $10 per person. After that, tours will continue through Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. All proceeds from the tours will benefit the Friends of the Mt Laurel Library.
