A few days before its grand opening, the Chelsea Public Library hosted a preview party at its new location on U.S. 280.

On March 23, city leaders and community members gathered at the former bank building, which now houses the Chelsea Public Library. Library director Dana Polk said earlier in the day, they invited Chelsea teachers to the library to see all of the resources that are available.

"It was great to connect with the teachers," Polk said.

In the new building, which was renovated over the last several months, Polk said the covered patio and vault, which houses young adult books, have received the best responses. Overall, she said she is excited to show off the new building to the whole community.

The library held a ribbon cutting on Monday, March 26 at 9 a.m. After the ribbon cutting, it officially opened to the community.

"I think once we cut that ribbon, it'll be a race to get in here," Polk said.

The new library will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
