There was something fun for everyone at this weekend's Oak Mountain State Park Harvest Festival.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, hundreds of families, friends and their furry creatures gathered for fall festivities at the South Trailhead Field.

The event, which was free, featured plenty of opportunities for both adults and children. The children's activities included face-painting, bow and arrowing shooting, pony rides and a bounce house. A guided hike was offered at noon, and people participated in free hay rides all day.

Local vendors provided festival-goers with several dozen booths to shop from, selling everything from fall crafts to pumpkins and other fall-flavored food items, and food vendors included Swamp Monster BBQ, Pazzo Big Slice Pizza, Bama Wild Dogs and Burgers and Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Company.

In addition, the Alabama Wildlife Center brought live snakes and turtles and presented an educational talk about wildlife in the area.

Many families stayed for the remainder of the day and enjoyed the warm weather at the park.
