Ornaments to support Shelby Humane’s transport initiative

Animal lovers looking to support a good cause this holiday season can do so through the Shelby Humane Society’s annual ornament sale. The ornament sale raises money for the shelter, enabling it to prepare animals for adoption or transport for partnering shelters.

Partnering shelters are located in states with legislation that requires spay and neutering or other practices that help keep the pet population down, thereby increasing the demand of adoptable animals.

Each ornament costs $60 and depicts an animal in need. There is also an option to sponsor 20-25 animals through a transport trip, which is $1,200.  That amount covers preparing the animals — through boarding, medical treatment and/or spay/neuter surgery — as well as the transport trip.

Ornaments are available for purchase online at shelbyhumane.org or at Whole Foods in Cahaba Village, Hollywood Feed in Cahaba Village and Lee Branch, The Pampered Pet Resort in Hoover, Valleydale Animal Clinic, Patton Chapel Animal Clinic and several other locations around Shelby County.
