Heroic 5K to save the day

Owens House, a Child Advocacy Center for the Shelby County area, will hold its first Superheroes 5K and Fun Run to benefit its nonprofit organization. The center works with victims of child physical and sexual abuse.

The run takes place June 21, 8 a.m.-noon at Veterans Park.

Runners and attendees are encouraged to dress like superheroes for the event.

Participation is $20 for adults, $10 for children, $50 for a family of up to 5 and $100 for a fundraising team of up to 6. Registration on the day of the event is an additional $5.

Packet pick-up is June 20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Trak Shak, 4740 Highway 280.

To register, visit owenshousecac.org or active.com by June 14. T-shirts and lunch on the day of the event are available for the first 200 registered.
