The Fifth Annual Protective Life Food Truck Round Up & Art Show has a slightly different venue this year.

This year’s event, hosted by PreSchool Partners, will be at The Summit in front of Carmike Cinema from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7. Adult tickets are $10, children’s tickets are $5, and the proceeds go to support PreSchool Partners’ programs, which aim to provide a quality preschool education whether a child’s family can pay for it or not.

“Our program is unique in that we serve 3- and 4-year-old children who typically couldn’t afford a preschool education of the quality we provide,” said Molly Silverstein, PreSchool Partners director of development.

The program also aims to provide families with the tools they need to encourage and achieve school readiness. Parents, guardians or other family members will come by the school every Monday to learn more about the curriculum and to gain an understanding of the level of involvement they will face when their child enters kindergarten, Silverstein said.

“We think that the more parents are involved, the more successful your child will be,” she said.

Over the last four years, the food truck roundup has raised more than $200,000, and Silverstein said they hope this year’s new venue will draw in a fresh crowd and bring even more energy.

In addition to funds raised through ticket sales, there will be T-shirts, cozies and a raffle at the event. Silverstein said attendees will also be able to donate directly to PreSchool Partners if they choose.

There are 15 food trucks and eight artists scheduled for the event, and Silverstein said the variety provides an option for everyone. There will also be balloon artists, face painters and other kid-friendly activities.
