SouthWest Water Company receives award

SouthWest Water Company has been named a recipient of the Plant Excellence Award for 2016 by the Alabama Water Environment Association.

AWEA named SWWC’s Riverview water resource recovery facility as the best operated plant in Alabama in the category of Domestic Water Treatment Facilities seized between 1 and 10 million discharged gallons per day.

“We are honored to receive this very prestigious and meaningful award,” said SWWC Managing Director Craig Sorensen. “It underscores the dedication to excellence our employees demonstrate every day in managing the world’s most precious resource.”

The Riverview facility is located on U.S. 280 in Shelby County’s Cahaba River basic and must meet effluent discharge requirements.

The AWEA is a nonprofit, educational and technical organization that works to preserve, protect and manage Alabama’s water resources.
