Briarwood Christian School held its graduation for the senior class of 2020 on July 19 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.

This year's senior class had 143 graduates. Each student was only allowed two tickets for the socially-distanced ceremony.

The students were escorted into the sanctuary by a bagpiper playing "Amazing Grace".

Principal Shawn Brower said it was the one time to finally have all the seniors back together.

"Today is exactly four months to the day [that the school year was canceled]," he said. "How little any of us knew what the next four months would entail."

Reflections and comments were given by Salutitorian Madeline Simmerman and Valedictorian Christian Ferguson.

The high school show choir performed the Christian song "Is He Worthy?" and "For Good" from the musical Wicked

Dr. Harry Reeder, pastor of Briarwood Presbyterian Church gave the commencement address.

Instead of crossing the stage, graduates stood when their names were called and moved their tassle to the left.

After the ceremony, graduates gathered in front of the church to throw their graduation caps in the air.
