CHS senior receives citizenship award

Kyla Kugler, a senior at Chelsea High School, was recently awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Award by the Hoover-based Lily of the Cahaba Chapter of the national Daughters of the American Revolution.

Kyla, who is the daughter of Tim and Dawn Cox of Chelsea, plans to attend Samford University.

The Good Citizens Award was established in 1930 by the DAR and recognizes a senior high school student who demonstrates outstanding patriotism, leadership, service and dependability. Each school may honor only one senior class student per year as their DAR Good Citizen.

Any woman is eligible for membership who is 18 years of age and can prove lineal, blood descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. For information about membership in Lily of the Cahaba, email lilyofthecahaba@gmail.com.
