Hoover City Schools, Jeff State dismissing early due to weather

The Hoover school system is sending students home 30 minutes early today because of the threat of inclement weather.

Elementary schools will dismiss at 2:15 p.m., while intermediate schools will dismiss at 2:30 p.m., middle schools will dismiss at 2:45 p.m. and high schools will dismiss at 3 p.m.

All extended day programs and after-school activities also are canceled or postponed.

Hoover High School’s Sadie Hawkins Dance now is set for 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Hoover High School cafeteria.

The basketball games between Spain Park and Vestavia Hills now are set for Monday night at Vestavia Hills High School, and the basketball games between Hoover and Oak Mountain high schools are scheduled for Saturday at Oak Mountain High School.

Jefferson State Community College also is closing all of its campuses, including the Shelby-Hoover Campus on Valleydale Road, at 3 p.m.
