Greystone completes aquatic studies center

A new aquatic studies center featuring a fish pond was completed in May as a new addition to the Greystone Outdoor Classroom natural habitat area. The habitat area is part of the Greystone Elementary Outdoor Classroom.

The pond was built in one day with the help of the third, fourth and fifth grade students at Greystone Elementary working alongside volunteers from the Inverness

T.J. Maxx Store, Hoover firefighters from Station #8 and Greystone parents. Doyle Keasel, a representative from the Auburn Extension Service and Alabama Wildlife Federation, provided the expertise in constructing the pond.

The “plugging in” ceremony for the pond was held on May 10 with all Greystone students, teachers and administrators attending.
