At the Shelby County Board of Education meeting on June 5, Kendall Jackson was named as the new assistant principal for Oak Mountain High School.

Jackson said she is excited for the challenges of her new role and impacting students throughout the school rather than from a single classroom. She is also looking forward to helping students meet the high standards at OMHS.

“There is a great foundation that has been around for a long time with this school,” Jackson said. “It’s exciting to know I’m about to be a part of its successes.”

Jackson previously taught English at Thompson High School for nine years. She said her mentors and fellow faculty members have prepared her well for her new role, but it will be tough to leave them.

“There’s a lot of memories I’ll be leaving at Thompson,” Jackson said. “The thing I’m going to miss the most is the spirit among the faculty and the friendships and relationships I developed there.”

Jackson received her bachelor’s in journalism and mass communication at Samford University and her master’s in secondary education and education leadership from the University of Montevallo.
