Kalnoske announces school board candidacy

by

Courtney Kalnoske has qualified to run for Shelby County Board of Education Place 1. Kalnoske announced her candidacy in February.

Kalnoske graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in business, concentrating in management and marketing. Kalnoske and her husband, Tom, a USAF veteran, spent four years stationed overseas before returning to the Birmingham area. They have lived in Shelby County for 14 years and have two children, Jackson (11) and Bryce (7). Both students in the Shelby County School system.

Kalnoske serves as the PTO President at Mt Laurel Elementary and works as a substitute teacher with Shelby County Schools. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom and volunteer, she worked for AmSouth/Regions in human resources and project management.

“My involvement in and daily exposure to the learning environment as a parent, substitute teacher and PTO leader give me a uniquely informed perspective,” Kalnoske said. “I want to be a voice for our parents, students and teachers, and I want to ensure we are making the right choices on the decisions that impact our children.”

In a release announcing her candidacy, Kalnoske said she is invested in the success of Shelby County Schools and is eager to serve as a member of the Board of Education. She is committed to raising the bar and enabling Shelby County Schools to continue on the path of excellence.
