Greystone resident Janice Folmar loves to stay busy, and that she does!

As one of the top professional real estate agents in Birmingham, she stays on the go and thrives on her family activities, her real estate career and her involvement with the Greystone Golf & Country Club.

“When we drove through the gates of Greystone the first time in 1994, I immediately knew this was where my family and I wanted to live,” Janice said. “I was actually not in real estate at that time.”

Now, Janice has been a Realtor for more than 20 years.

“I have had some wonderful experiences,” she said, “and some very exciting encounters. My life is filled with so many great opportunities to help people find their perfect ‘next move.’ There is never a dull day,” she said, “and I love it!”

“What a rewarding life I have on all levels! As a Realtor, some of my clients have worked with me on their very first home purchase and some are on their eighth home purchase with me! What an honor to be called back by a former client. However, most of them have become my friends, so our general conversation on a regular basis strengthens our business relationship as well.”

Janice sincerely believes her passion and ambition sets her apart from other real estate agents.

“Sincerity and assisting with one of the biggest decisions in one’s life is something I take very seriously and personally. Expertise from me for these buyers and sellers is critical, and I feel my experience, training and ambition make a difference in the outcome of their decisions.”

Because she understands the importance of her help and availability to each client, Janice tries to make herself accessible at all times.

“I never turn my phone off. Even at my favorite place, the beach, my phone is on and I am available and working.” T

he only times she isn’t available is when her daughters — who admire her greatly — occasionally force her to take a break by hiding her phone for a few hours.

“Real estate has been the best career decision I have ever made,” Janice said. “My corporate job in personnel management and administration was great, but when the company relocated to Iowa, I knew that was not an opportunity I could accept. Being a true Southern girl, that was absolutely not an option for me and my family.”

However, having a corporate background gave Janice the structure and discipline she needed to become a successful agent. And according to her, it was her upbringing that gave her the motivation.

“Being raised on a farm with four brothers and three sisters definitely gave me the ambition, flexibility and the drive I possess,” she said.

Her passion and hard work have not gone unnoticed. Through the years she has been honored to receive many awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award, Diamond Club Award, Club of Excellence Awards (18 years), Chairman’s Club for five years, Platinum Club for five years, Top Realtor Dixie Region-RE/MAX, Top 10 Sales Team in the Dixie Region for eight years and numerous other awards.

Each award is evidence of her dedication to her clients.

In 1994, Janice and her family joined Greystone Golf & Country Club, the cornerstone of the 1,350-home gated community. Janice was able to experience the growth of the club along with the development and growth of the Greystone community.

“It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life,” she said. “Now, becoming the first female president of the club in 29 years is an unbelievable honor. Over the years, I have been honored to work on the various levels of the club including the Board of Directors, Membership Marketing, and Regions Tradition Tournament. This club is the second home for my family.”

Greystone Golf & Country Club has 832 member families, and it continues to grow. The club has two first-class championship golf courses, The Founders and The Legacy. It also has amazing tennis facilities, swimming facilities, a fitness center, awesome dining venues and social events on all levels.

“It is the place to be! Golf outings are popular in our two courses, as well as wedding ceremonies on our plaza,” Janice said. “Our club is proud that Mark Blackburn, a world-renowned golf instructor, is our Director of Instruction.”

The club is known as being the fabled home of the Bruno’s Memorial Classic (1992-2005) and can now also boast of being the home of the annual Regions Tradition Tournament.

“Living and working in my own neighborhood is exciting and rewarding. The connection I have to my community every day reminds me that I have the perfect career in real estate and live in my perfect neighborhood of Greystone.”
