When it comes to providing comprehensive medical care for patients struggling with fertility issues, as well as other issues that effect reproduction, America Institute of Reproductive Medicine (AIRM) in Birmingham is versed in the latest technologies.

“We are a reproductive endocrinology private practice,” said Brook Highland resident Karen Hammond, CRNP, DNP. “We provide comprehensive medical care for patients struggling with fertility issues, as well as other issues that affect reproduction, including endometriosis and uterine fibroids.”

Hammond began practicing in reproductive medicine in 1985.

“It has been absolutely amazing to be in this field since soon after the first IVF baby in the country was born,” Hammond said. “The rapid development, progress and success of available treatments compels me to not only stay abreast of current research, but also to conduct independent research.”

Hammond said since joining AIRM, her passion for helping advanced infertility treatment become more accessible has grown.

“I had a strong desire to make advanced infertility treatment more accessible to more people,” Hammond said. “Unfortunately, many of the advanced treatments are cost-prohibitive to most patients, so I developed our Affordable IVF Program that has reduced the patient cost to about one-third the cost of traditional IVF.”

“The journey to build a family is very personal and emotional,” she said. “I love walking with my patients every step of the way. I celebrate their joys and mourn their sorrows. I am truly blessed to be able to accompany each patient on their journey. I am passionate about treating every single woman and couple with the skill, compassion, empathy and respect that I would want for myself and my family.”
