The high school soccer playoffs are heating up and several local teams are still in action.

On Tuesday night, the Chelsea girls and both Briarwood teams advanced with wins.

Class 6A No. 4 Chelsea traveled to Northridge and came away with a 7-0 victory. Chelsea got on the board quick with Carson Reeves finishing a well-played ball from Haley Greene to put Chelsea up 1-0. The game was dominated by Chelsea, who controlled the pace of play from the outset. Offensively, Chelsea was led by Haley Greene (3 goals, 1 assist) and Lexie Duca (1 goal, 3 assists).  Sabrina Lang was in goal for the Hornets and recorded the shutout.

Chelsea will host No. 1 John Carroll in the third round with a trip to the semifinals on the line. Game time is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Chelsea High School soccer field.

Briarwood hosted Trinity Presbyterian in boys and girls second round action on Tuesday as well. The girls cruised to the 6-1 victory, jumping out to a 4-0 lead at halftime and hanging on from there.

The boys game was much tighter, as Griffin Felton scored the only goal of the game in the Lions' 1-0 win. Felton was assisted by Logan Frost on the goal.

Both Briarwood teams will take to the road on Saturday in the third round of the Class 4A/5A playoffs. The girls play at Alabama Christian at 5 p.m., while the boys play at LAMP at 7 p.m.

In Class 7A action on Tuesday, Oak Mountain hosted Hoover and Vestavia Hills hosted Spain Park, in both boys and girls action. Oak Mountain and Vestavia swept both contests. Find a full recap of those games here.
