Briarwood dominates Sylacauga for first win

By Tom Ward

Briarwood rebounded mightily from its trip to Georgia last week, leading Sylacauga 26-0 after three quarters and cruising to a 26-15 victory.

Quarterback Will Edwards led the offense in the air and on the ground, passing for two touchdowns and amassing 118 yards rushing.

Edwards tossed scoring passes to Blythe Woods (8 yards) and Andrew Schaper (36 yards.  A touchdown and two-point conversion by Victor Jerald topped off the scoring.

The Briarwood defense held strong until the game was well in hand.  The Sylacauga attack was led by Ian Floyd, who scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and finished with 175 yards.

Briarwood (1-1) continues their difficult schedule with a clash against the Homewood Patriots next week.
