Briarwood girls fall in overtime

Briarwood Christian overcame a halftime deficit to force overtime, but fell to John Carroll, 65-57, on Tuesday night in the girls basketball Class 6A, Area 9 tournament.

The Lions trailed 29-18 after halftime, but cut the lead to seven after the third quarter. 

In a big fourth quarter, Briarwood outscored John Carroll 19-12 behind two three-pointers from Molly McKenzie, five points from Ellie Tarence, and four points from Sophie Muir-Taylor.

Tarence's three-pointer at the buzzer to left the score tied at 54 after regulation.

In overtime, John Carroll outscored the Lions 11-3 to finish with the eight-point edge.

Shelly Proctor scored ten points in the first half, and had 17 in regulation. 

Proctor, McKenzie, and Muir-Taylor were named to the All-Area team following the contest.

Briarwood Christian's season ends with the loss.
