Joseph Lanzi scored with seven seconds remaining to give Chelsea the 58-56 win over Oxford in the Class 6A, Area 10 final on Friday night at Oxford High School.

Lanzi drove to the basket and scored while being fouled. He hit the free throw to give the Hornets a two-point lead. Oxford drove the length of the court, but Josh Hanna blocked a shot and sealed the win for Chelsea.

Oxford led by a point with 34 seconds to go, but Lanzi's basket was set up after a missed free throw on the front end of a one-and-one.

Oxford was ahead 31-23 at the half, but a strong third quarter from Chelsea left the game tied at 42, entering the final period.

Lanzi finished the game with 15 points to lead the team. Matthew Marquet added 14, and Sam Towery had ten.

Jalen Moore scored 15 for Oxford.

Chelsea wrapped up its second consecutive area championship, and will host Fort Payne in the 6A sub-regionals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
