Oak Mountain High School boys soccer coach Dan DeMasters will host his third annual Dynamic Development Summer Soccer Camp Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24. Held on the Oak Mountain High campus, the week-long session is for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12.

DeMasters said around 70 players attended the camp in 2015, nearly double the inaugural attendance numbers. This year he said he expects another, though less dramatic, attendance increase.

“I of course want to continue to grow it, but I also want to make it part of the fabric of our community so more children in the area have the opportunity to have a great summer experience,” DeMasters said.

Although the camp will take place at OMHS, DeMasters said it is open to youngsters from all over the Birmingham area.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Registration costs are $230 for traditional campers and $250 for elite campers seeking a higher curriculum. Team, referral and half-day discounts are available.

Even though DeMasters suggests that campers pre-register, he said walk-up registration will be an option.

Registration costs include a camp T-shirt and Nike soccer ball; elite campers will also receive an elite camp shirt.

“Whether children are just starting out or experienced players, there is a spot for him/her at camp,” DeMasters said.

DeMasters will serve as camp director, while local collegiate soccer players from Division I, II and III schools will serve as camp staff.

Notably, DeMasters guided the Oak Mountain boys soccer team to its second straight Class 7A state title this past spring. The Eagles boasted a 28-0-2 record in 2016 and were named the No. 1 team in the country by USA Today.
