There are perks to being one of the best teams in the country, and the Oak Mountain High School boys soccer team is reaping the benefits of winning back-to-back Class 7A state titles.

Thanks to the Eagles 28-0-1 season, they were rated the No. 1 team in the country by USA Today. Along with the other USA Today national champions across 15 other sports, including five additional teams, the America's Best Team contest was set.

The contest was decided by voting, open to the public, and Oak Mountain won in a landslide, garnering 31,712 votes, over 6,000 more than the next best team.

As winners of the contest, the Oak Mountain High athletic department receives a $1,000 award.

"Our boys soccer program at Oak Mountain High School would be nothing without the support of our friends, families, staff and most of all our Eagle nation fans and alumni," head coach Dan DeMasters said. "The players and I are so blessed to be surrounded by great people to create such a great atmosphere to play in."

So, according to at least one source, the Oak Mountain boys soccer program is America's best team. Period.
