High School Volleyball Season Highlights

Briarwood Christian School advanced to the Class 5A South Super Regional. At the regional tournament, the Lions fell in three hard-fought sets to eventual runner-up Faith Academy (14-25, 17-25, 32-34).

Briarwood won the regular season Area 8 title and was the runner-up in the area tournament. The Lions had five seniors this year, with Audrey O’Brien, Callie Tomlinson, Lauren Danley, Avery Rose Ochsenhirt and Audrey Vickers playing their final seasons with the program.

Chelsea High School advanced to the state tournament for just the second time in school history this season, putting together a phenomenal 51-6 campaign. The Hornets fell to Hartselle in the Class 6A state tournament in four tight sets (25-19, 24-26, 23-25, 20-25).

Chelsea won tournaments at Briarwood, Smiths Station and Chelsea throughout the season, along with winning the Area 8 regular season and tournament titles. The Hornets’ roster featured four seniors that made immense contributions, in Bailey-Drew McIntyre, Victoria Schmer, Zoe LaBreche and Sarah Moore.

Oak Mountain High School finished a solid season with a 29-14 overall record. The Eagles finished third in Class 7A, Area 5 and fell to eventual state tournament team Thompson in the area tournament.

The Eagles had four seniors this fall in Lilly Yeatman, Josie Ohlson, Zoe Atkinson and Tayler Collier.

Spain Park High School put together a 34-17 record this fall. The Jags notched several big wins throughout the season, including wins over eventual state champ Mountain Brook and state tournament teams Bob Jones, Thompson and Spanish Fort (Class 6A champion).

The Jags will graduate six seniors in Olivia Stark, Paris Morris, Lexie Fowler, Alex Wright, Kendall Irwin and Jessica Veal.
