Hornets open volleyball season with win

The Chelsea High School volleyball team traveled to Montgomery for its season opener.

The Hornets downed Jeff Davis in three straight sets on Thursday afternoon, the first day that volleyball teams were allowed to compete in regular season matches.

The first set was the closest, as Chelsea won by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-13.

Taylor Hackett finished the day with 10 assists. Lexie Riggins registered eight aces and four digs. Jules Hamers had six kills.

Chelsea's next action takes place Saturday, as the Hornets participate in the Smiths Station Invitational.
