Jamal Johnson made it official on Wednesday.

The standout guard on the Spain Park High School basketball team signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday morning to attend the University of Memphis and play for coach Tubby Smith.

"I've been dreaming of this since I was a little kid," Johnson said. "It's finally official and I'm extremely happy all my hard work has paid off."

Johnson averaged 18 points and 4.4 assists per game during his junior campaign, as the Jaguars advanced to the Final Four.

He said he believes the team can reach that stage once again, and is glad to have gotten his college decision out of the way before the season begins Thursday night, as Spain Park hosts Cornerstone.

"I can finally take a deep breath and just focus on school ball and make a run at the state title," Johnson said.
