Oak Mountain Golf Team wins Shelby County Tournament

Oak Mountain High School won the Shelby County High School golf tournament at Eagle Point Golf Club on April 2. The Eagles’ “Red” Team scored a 312 to place first, while the “Blue” team finished fourth with a score of 330.

Tyler Edge, Phillip English, Riley Fowler, Matthew Kelley and Harrison Mink comprised the Red team and Wriley Herring, Zack Holton, Nolan Mercer, Connor O’Gorman and Ben Rush made up the Blue Team.

Harrison Mink (72) finished second, and Matthew Kelley (77) and Zack Holton (77) tied for fifth place in the individual standings and were each named to the Shelby County All-County Team. In a tournament highlight, Nolan Mercer made a hole-in-one on the par 3 Hole 15.

On April 1, the Eagles placed second in the 2013 Pelham Panther Classic Golf Tournament at Timberline Golf Club. The Eagles scored 311 - five shots off the winning score of 306 by Northridge High School. Harrison Mink placed fifth in the individual standings.
