Oak Mountain needed a win, and its offensive stars came through in the clutch.

Facing a traditional power from South Alabama, Oak Mountain placed its first mark in the win column with a 35-21 victory over Stanhope Elmore.

Josh Gaines, fresh off of last week’s 180-yard slicing of the Wetumpka defense, scored three touchdowns to lead the offense.  Gaines rushed for two scores a caught a touchdown toss from quarterback Warren Shader.  Shader added 108 yards rushing and two touchdowns, as well as 63 yards passing.

The Oak Mountain defense held firm when it counted, holding Stanhope Elmore to only 21 points.  The defensive effort was aided by Luke Driskill and Chris Johnson, who each intercepted passes.

Next week, the Oak Mountain team looks to extend its winning ways when the Pelham Panthers arrive for their annual clash.
