Spain Park basketball sweeps Vestavia Hills

The Spain Park boys and girls basketball teams had no trouble dispatching Vestavia Hills on Tuesday night to pick up a pair of Class 7A, Area 6 wins.

In the girls contest, freshman point guard Skyla Knight and Arielle Parks each scored ten points as the Lady Jags won easily, 52-19.

The Lady Jag defense was stifling, never allowing over six points in any quarter.

Austin Wiley and Jamal Johnson kept up their strong play on the boys side, as each scored 23 points in an 80-47 win.

Wiley added 11 rebounds and two blocks to garner a double-double. Johnson did a little bit of everything, grabbing five boards, dishing out five assists, and blocking three shots.

Justin Brown added 14 points.

Both teams host Hewitt-Trussville on Friday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., with the boys game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
