Spain Park girls advance to area final

Spain Park's girls advanced to the Class 7A, Area 6 final by blasting Hewitt-Trussville 60-40 at Spain Park.

Skyla Knight scored 20 points for the Lady Jags (24-8), who will host Mountain Brook at 7 p.m. Friday night. Mountain Brook beat Vestavia Hills to advance.

The Hoover Lady Bucs (23-6) defeated Oak Mountain 39-23 at Hoover on Wednesday. They will advance to host Thompson on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Class 7A, Area 5 final. The boys area final will be at 7 p.m.

The Oak Mountain boys were to face Hoover on Thursday night in one half of the bracket while Thompson and Tuscaloosa County were in the other half. Winners meet Saturday at 7.

Area indoor track teams will be competing in the state championships at Birmingham CrossPlex Friday and Saturday for the Class 7A state title.
