Sports psychologist visiting Spain Park Wednesday

Dr. Bhrett McCabe and The MindSide will be at Spain Park High School on Wednesday night, delivering a presentation titled, "Managing the Psychological Aspects of Competition: How to Win, Succeed, and Grow In Today's Culture."

The 45-minute presentation followed by a Q & A session will take place Wednesday, January 20, at 6 p.m., in the Spain Park High School theater. The presentation will explore the science of winning and the psychology of competitive success and is open to the public.

"Today's student-athlete faces a lot of pressure to perform, win, be successful in the classroom, and have a social life," Spain Park athletic director Patrick Kellogg said. "Dr. McCabe provides excellent resources to help parents, athletes, and coaches place this in proper perspective with The MindSide."

Dr. McCabe is a sports and performance psychologist and licensed clinical psychologist to professional and collegiate athletes who founded The MindSide in 2007. He currently works with a number of professional golfers and is the sports and performance psychologist for the University of Alabama's athletic department. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University (LSU).

McCabe will be joined in the presentation by Meighan Julbert, M.S., who holds a psychology degree from Auburn University and a Master's in Science degree in sports psychology and motor behavior from the University of Tennessee. She works as a mental skills consultant for The MindSide.

Other members of The MindSide team include consultant/licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Josh Klapow, business manager Missy McCabe, and director of public relations and development Donnette' Hulsey.
