FOOTBALL

Briarwood

The Briarwood football claimed the Class 5A, Region 4 title with a win over Hueytown last Friday night. Click here for the recap of the Lions’ eighth straight win. 

This Friday, the Lions begin the Class 5A playoffs by hosting Marbury.

Chelsea

The Chelsea football team picked up a victory over Pell City last Friday night to wrap up the regular season with a win. Click here to read the story from the game.

This Friday, the Hornets travel to Oxford for the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Oak Mountain

The Oak Mountain football claimed a last-minute victory over Pace (Fla.) last Friday night, as the Eagles concluded a disappointing season on a high note. Click here for the recap of the game.


VOLLEYBALL

The Chelsea volleyball team qualified for the state tournament for the second time in school history. The Hornets fell in the Class 6A quarterfinals to Hartselle on Wednesday in four sets. Click here for the story on Chelsea’s remarkable season.


CROSS-COUNTRY

The local cross-country teams competed in the section meets last week. Briarwood’s boys and girls swept the top honors in Class 5A, Section 3, and qualified both teams for state. Chelsea’s boys and girls teams also qualified for the 6A state meet, while Oak Mountain’s girls qualified for the 7A meet. The state meet will be held Saturday in Moulton.
