A game for the ages ended in triple overtime and disappointment for the Chelsea Hornets, who came up short in a 48-45 loss to Wetumpka.

The Hornets swarmed Wetumpka in the first quarter. Jacob Green returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and Chelsea built an early 28-7 lead.

The game was played like a heavyweight fight, with each side trading blows until they were tied at the end of four quarters.

After trading touchdowns in the first two overtimes, Chelsea's third OT field goal was matched by a Wetumpka game winning touchdown.

Austin Washington continued his outstanding 2013 season, scoring five touchdowns and rushing for 129 yards.

The Hornets look to rebound from the epic battle with a road trip to face the Pelham Panthers next week.
