UAB star, Chelsea grad Ganus commits to Georgia

Jake Ganus, the former Chelsea High star quarterback who developed into one of the top linebackers in Conference USA for the now-disbanded UAB football team, will finish his career as a Georgia Bulldog.

Ganus informed 280 Living this morning via a direct Twitter message.

Ganus was the Blazers' leading tackler in 2014, recording 70 tackles, including 16.5 for losses and six sacks to earn second-team C-USA honors. He also scored a touchdown on a fumble return.

The 6-2, 225-pounder is eligible to play right away, thanks to UAB President Ray Watts' decision to immediately shut down the program despite a 6-6 season that saw the much-improved Blazers become bowl eligible under first-year coach Bill Clark, who was named the C-USA coach of the year Thursday.
