
Ellen Morris, founder of The Gingerbread Lady, LLC, learned to make gingerbread houses from her mother when she was a teenager. She began donating the elaborate houses for charity and soon began her own business.
Now, the popular gingerbread houses have received numerous awards and even appeared on numerous local television programs and was even featured nationally as part of the Christmas set on “The Young and the Restless.” She created a replica of the governor’s mansion to raise funds for its renovation and was commissioned to make the gingerbread replica of the White House at American Village in Montevallo. She has been featured in The Birmingham News, The Gadsden Times, Southern Living at Home and Over the Mountain Journal, among others.
The Irondale store closed Dec. 24, and the new 280 store will open when renovations are complete in late January or February.
