The State Ballet Theatre of Russia is pleased to announce the performance of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” in Birmingham, on Sunday, Jan 17 at The Lyric Theatre. The State Ballet Theatre of Russia, visiting Birmingham for a second time, brings to life the most passionate romantic tragedy ever told with 55 of of Russia’s brightest ballet stars. The State Ballet Theatre of Russia was established in 1961 and has since included works by both classical and modern Russian composers. Romeo and Juliet lends itself beautifully to the language of ballet, from kinetic violence to the exquisite pain of young love. The warring Capulets and Montagues are brought to thrilling life through the choreography of Nikolay Anokhin and Michael Lavrosky. Attendees will enjoy a beautiful take on this classic performance during the highly anticipated Lyric Theatre grand opening weekend. Built in 1914, the Lyric Theatre has recently completed the two-year, $11.5 million restoration project bringing the historical theatre back to life.
