Kim McBrayer has been in the organizing business for 20 years, and people tell her all the time that they thought they were just getting their closet reorganized.
What ends up happening, they tell her, is that the process is greater than they ever expected.
“It sounds somewhat cliche, but when the clients describe it as life-changing, we know we have done something right,” she said.
Space Cadets has everything a person needs to get organized. There’s a retail shop with organizing accessories, but Space Cadets also offers the installation of closet and garage systems as well as the professional organizers to help.
Kim understands her clients because she’s been there before. She calls herself a “recovering messy.”
“This passion of simplifying lives through organization actually developed from my own personal struggles with clutter,” she said. “I understand my clients because I was my first client. I developed proven strategies and methods that worked for me, and now I lead a team of organizers and installers who share with others how to use the solutions that have changed my life.”
Space Cadets offers something for every budget. There are $5 solutions and $50,000 solutions to clutter — and everything in between. There are built-in cabinets for those who want a touch of elegance, and there are fixed ventilated shelves for those who want to get organized on a budget. At the retail and design center, customers can shop a variety of organization products for closets, kitchens, garages and more.
“The old adage is true that we get what we pay for,” Kim said. “We offer excellent quality products, and while there are less expensive options on the market, it is never any fun to pay for something twice because a closet falls, often in the middle of the night! Besides, who wants to empty it all and do it all again? So, invest a little more the first time and get it done right to last longer.”
The process at Space Cadets starts with a consultation, which is called a Space Walk. At this meeting, clients will discuss their trouble areas, specific needs, budget and expectations.
Next is the design phase. If a product system is required, one of the Space Cadet designers will prepare a plan and estimate for your review.
The production phase is the moment the client has been waiting for. Here, the Space Cadets will organize with great care and attention to detail and leave the space better than they found it.
Space Cadets also helps with relocations. “This is either for someone moving into a new home and wanting to get started with a clean slate, or for someone preparing to move and wanting to purge the unnecessary to lighten the load for the movers,” Kim said.
Anyone interested can stop by the retail shop in Brook Highland to find all sorts of cool storage items and gadgets, as well as take a walk through the showroom and design center for great ideas on how to improve your space.
