The Alabama Wildlife Center held its annual Wild About Chocolate fundraising event on Saturday, Feb. 8 at The Harbert Center in downtown Birmingham.
Guests enjoyed entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, a silent and live auction and were able to get up close with the center's education raptors.
This year, the AWC honored their volunteer veterinarians and their partnership with Shelby County whose compassion, support, and dedication to AWC’s mission allows them to provide the best care possible to all of their avian patients.
The AWC is located at Oak Mountain State Park and is Alabama’s oldest and largest wildlife rehabilitation facility, caring for almost 2,000 wild bird patients from more than 100 species each year. The nonprofit organization has a dual mission to provide medical and rehabilitative care for Alabama’s injured and orphaned native birds in order to permit their return to the wild, and to educate people in order to heighten awareness and appreciation of Alabama’s native wildlife.
