Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 22-year-old Pelham resident in connection to multiple car burglaries along U.S. 280.
A citizen called the Sheriff’s Office Thursday, May 19 to let them know about suspicious activity, and a deputy pulled over an individual in the area of Cahaba Park Circle, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The deputy reportedly identified the driver, Christopher Clark Codero, as a potential suspect in a series of car burglaries along U.S. 280. Codero was found in possession of stolen credit cards, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
The arrest comes after a "month's long investigation," according to the release, and upon further investigation, Codero was charged with multiple felony counts of unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle, second and third degree theft of property, third degree receiving stolen property, fraudulent use of a credit card and obstruction of justice. He was also charged with misdemeanor second degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at Shelby County Jail on a $67,000 bond.
Investigators are working with the Hoover Police Department to return property to potential victims of related car burglaries in other jurisdictions.
